It is my goal to inspire curiosity, imagination and learning so that we become a wiser, more just society. I champion lifelong learning and have had many experiences that have given me insights into the world of business and the life of the entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur and corporate manager for nearly four decades, I hope to bring my business skills and understanding to TransforMana.
I began my professional career as a retail manager, a position that would not have spanned twenty years had it not brought me much joy and provided me with priceless business and management practices. In 2000, armed with the knowledge and confidence I had gained, I launched my first technology company. ShirWin Knowledge & Learning Systems fused educational methods with gaming technologies to create simulated learning environments for post-secondary students in a number of professional domains. It was important work to be sure, but it is with TransforMana that I feel that I am finally able to marry my managerial know-how with my passion for business – both of which have provided the basis for my companies and which fuel my evolving professional life.
I am grateful to my wonderful husband Scott, who has never failed to support me in my myriad adventures. His creativity and innovation are a constant source of wonder and inspiration. And it is with deep gratitude that I am embarking on this new journey with my beloved sister Valerie. She has always given me the courage and motivation to be better each day and to care deeply for others. She is a true champion of everyone who crosses her path. I am enriched by having both of these people in my life.
As an aside, and if it even matters, I have a BSc in Computer Science and an MBA, both from the University of Alberta.
